Seneca’s Computer Engineering Technology program provides you with a sound inter-disciplinary foundation, combining the three primary branches of Information and Communications Technology: electronics, software development and IT infrastructure.
The School of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering Technology (SEMET) incorporates curriculum and content from a number of widely recognized companies and organizations, including CompTIA (A+ and Network+) and Cisco (the School of SEMET is a recognized Cisco Academy). In addition, the School of SEMET supports strong ties with major companies in Information and Engineering Technology, including Microsoft, Red Hat, Rogers, Altera and Agilent. These linkages are critical to providing pathways for you to gain exposure to current practices in Computer Engineering Technology and also offer opportunities that can lead to key industry certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), A+, Network+ and Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE).
First Year
In the School of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering Technology, all electronics and engineering diploma programs (ECT, EEN, EET) have the first two semesters in common, facilitating easy transfer between program before second year.
Eligibility:
Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent with:
Grade 12 English: ENG4(C) or ENG4(U)
Grade 12 Mathematics: (C) or (U) or Grade 11 Mathematics: MCR3(U)
OR Mature Student Status (age 19 or older) with the above prerequisite course(s), their equivalent(s) or appropriate Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) Certificate program credits.
