Today’s professional selling environment is dynamic, virtual and borderless. It continues to outpace growth in other professions and has been named one of the top five high-demand specializations over the past decade in Canada.
Students in Durham College’s (DC) Professional Selling and Business Development Ontario college graduate certificate (OCGC) program will gain global perspectives into the selling process; learn real-world, industry-standard selling methods; and be sales-ready by graduation to begin a promising future in the professional selling industry.
Graduates will be recognized for their achievements and receive their Professional Sales Certificate from the Canadian Professional Sales Association (CPSA) to support employment in Canada and will be well-positioned to pursue additional CPSA designations, including Certified Sales Associate (CSA), Certified Sales Professional (CSP) and Certified Sales Leader (CSL). Graduates will also receive micro-credentials in Salesforce.com, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and SmartFox Technologies.
Developed in response to the growing need for skilled graduates specialized in professional selling, the Professional Selling and Business Development graduate certificate program prepares students with the knowledge, skills and expertise required to work within the sales industry.
Courses in this program immerse students in a learning environment that encourages them to think critically to solve complex problems by combining artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, online simulations, international case competitions, real-world case studies and interaction with industry professionals to support their future careers in the industry.
Students will gain hands-on experience and come away with a deeper understanding of industry-accepted selling methodologies, prospecting, account and relationship management, business-to-business marketing techniques, negotiating, follow-up and tools and technologies that generate revenue and maintain long-term consultative relationships with business clients.
Through a variety of specialized courses, students will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge in an optional 14-week, 420-hour work-term placement. Students will be equipped with the knowledge and skills required to successfully apply their expertise and professional selling skills in a sales organization with the ability to translate theoretical learning to the actual field. This work-term placement provides valuable career experience and an opportunity for the graduate to move into a full-time selling role. DC is dedicated to assisting students in securing their work-term placement and supports them throughout the process.
