The Robertson College Administrative Office Assistant program will provide you with an understanding of office procedures as well as the skills required to meet the needs of a variety of office environments.
- Gain basic knowledge of office procedures including organizing meetings/conferences, leadership, teamwork and more
- Develop professional business skills necessary to communicate in a dynamic workplace
- Learn proper typing techniques and improve your keyboarding accuracy
- Learn to perform functions common to all Microsoft Windows applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Upon completion, you will have gained an understanding of office procedures and developed transferable skills that can be applied to a number of office settings. You will also be knowledgeable in administrative procedures, business communication, customer service, and computer fundamentals.

Job Purpose & Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, supervise and complete order fulfillment process in inventory systems.
- Process returns following established procedures.
- Work closely with logistics manager to monitor inventory levels, correct errors and maintain the accuracy inventory.
- Attend management meetings to discuss operational details and take meeting minutes.
- Customer Service – greeting customers, answering phone calls/emails
- Receive and sort daily mail, ordering office supplies, ensure reception area is tidy and presentable
- Deal with customer claims and solve issues as they arise
- Perform other clerical receptionist duties such as filing, photocopying and faxing
- Assist with data management, purchase orders, bank reconciliations, and logistics analysis in support of both operational and customer related projects.
- Support the preparation of internal documentation and reports.
- Participates in cross-functional groups to create and exceed expected customer outcomes.
- Interact with internal and external customers on an as needed basis and is determined by their role in the project
- Other projects as assigned by the supervisor
Requirements
- Strong organizational and communication skills, verbal and written with an exceptional attention to detail
- 1 year of professional administrative support or customer service experience required
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; advanced training is an asset.
- Ability to work independently.
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Quickbooks, Excel and/or other software programs
- Accounts Receivables & Payables
- Reconciliation of Bank Statements
- Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
- Self-motivated, reliable and accountable
- Professional attitude
- Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
- Hands-on experience with office equipment (e.g. fax machines and printers)
- Professional telephone communication skills
- Interest in working in a fast paced entrepreneurial environment
- Experience or interest in the food industry is an asset but not required (interest or knowledge of specialty foods, health foods, or ‘foodie’ culture).
- Assist with inside sales.
