Kin Canada Bursaries is a program of the Hal Rogers Endowment Fund. $1,000 bursaries are awarded to Canadian students from coast-to-coast who are pursuing post-secondary education.
Kin Canada established the Hal Rogers Endowment Fund in memory of Hal Rogers, Kin Canada’s founder who passed away in 1994. The HREF Board of Trustees carry out the Fund’s purpose to promote, encourage and sponsor educational programs and activities.
Kin Canada Bursaries, a program of the Hal Rogers Endowment Fund (HREF), awarded 48 deserving students with a $1,000 bursary for their 2013-14 school year. Successful applicants were chosen based on their community and school involvement, knowledge of Kin Canada and financial need.
Since its inception in 1994, $857,000 has been awarded to 857 students across Canada. The amount disbursed in any one year depends on the balance of the Hal Rogers Endowment Fund and its governing laws.
Criteria:
- Must be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant.
- Must be a student in the process of graduating from high school or currently studying or registered at a post-secondary institution.
- Must complete the current application form and submit it to the Kinsmen, Kinette or Kin Club closest to their permanent residence by February 1. Bursary winners are notified before June 30 by their sponsoring club.
- Will be evaluated on their community and school involvement, knowledge of Kin Canada and financial need.
